About
In this course, you'll learn how to create encaustic "riverstone" paintings—lush, layered pieces that echo the earthy beauty of water-worn rocks and ancient geology. Using pigmented wax, carving tools, and a bit of flame, we’ll build up and sculpt smooth, organic shapes that mimic the natural patterns found in stone. Expect a hands-on, meditative process with plenty of texture, depth, and flow. No geology degree required—just a love of wax, curiosity, and a willingness to get a little messy. This course requires the previous knowledge on how to start with an encaustic medium layer and the addition to added encaustic paint. It is picked up from the stage of having encaustic abstract shapes on the panel, in various shapes/sizes/colors. You may start here, or begin with the previous video if preferred. The supply list includes tools/materials for this course, with the understanding that basic encaustic tools/materials are already available. Supply List: -loop tools -carving tools -Faber Castell pitt pen -rubbing alcohol (91%) -R&F Pigment sticks
